Biology inspired, I did this toward the end of last semester, and again, never took a picture of it. I'm really fond of this one, mostly because I tried some new techniques on it and they WORKED! Always a nice thing to have happen.
And this one is brand new, I just finished it last night. I took a calculus class over the summer, and ended up inspired to paint something...math related...oh, I feel so nerdy.
I love it, though; mixing gouache and watercolor is always my favorite combination. You get the soft edges of the watercolors, and then the gouache dries on top of it in all these veiny, fractal-like branching patches. The way that you see watercolor spreading across the paper and you think, "oh man, if only it would dry like that." Well, gouache does. Love.
